Welcome to the second day in a week of encouragements that will bring you “7 super easy keys to wipe out worry!”
A second way to wipe out worry is to focus on today!
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
(Matthew 6 verse 34 New International Version)
Often we worry about things that might take place in the future, only to find that they don’t happen! Worry is a habit and it takes time to break it.
It had been a difficult month. We had had to pay the usual bills and some unexpected, very large amounts. The rent was due the following day and we had no idea how we were going to find the money. I remember waking early and getting on my knees, crying out to God for help. I was really scared. All day, waves of anxiety gripped us. The following morning we discovered a reserve of money in our bank that we hadn’t realised was available to us, and all was well. Looking back, we had wasted the whole day sick with worry. The thing we were most frightened of never happened. We had put the problem into His hands but not let go of it!
“Does worry add anything to your life? Can it add one more year, or even one day? So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you?”
(Luke 12 verses 25-26 The Passion Translation)
